Online shopping dominates the consumer market

Over the past 10 years, online shopping has become the new normal for purchasing everything from books to niche products to even groceries.

“Most of my shopping is done online these days, partly because my schedule doesn’t allow time to go out and shop, and partly because it’s just easier and more convenient”, Alyse Zuiderveen said. “It just makes more sense in this day and age to purchase stuff online and wait a day or two for it to show up at the door than go out and buy stuff”.

In-person retail stores have seen this trend grow, and are focusing on making their online presence enjoyable for the consumer.

Josiah Vaughan, local small business owner and online shopping consumer comments on the necessity of an enjoyable shopping experience online for the consumer.

“I’d say for me, the convenience of online shopping comes with the combination of options in price, usually it’s cheaper to buy online because you don’t have to spend gas money to go to the store and it saves you time because I can just pull up my laptop and compare items without having to walk around the store.” Vaughan said.

In this day and age, online shopping seems to take dominance over retail shopping due to its convenience, ease of use, and cheaper prices.
