Tune it Out

What you know and what you do stretch in opposite directions. This is a thread of the human story. However, before this deflates you, there is a detail in this fact that offers a subtle opportunity. The distance between what you know and what you do is malleable.

For instance, you say love is important but it is nowhere to be found in your heart. And since love is a massive conduit for energy, it will, it must fill itself with an alternative. Most often, this secondary fuel source is hurry. Hurry to get somewhere else, hurry to be someone else, hurry to get more of anything else.

You’ve been fed an ideal that tangles you into a race of self-reliance at all costs. Nowhere along this path has anyone taught you how to empty yourself without losing yourself. Now, just the thought of looking at this illusion is brutal because it threatens to puncture the bubble of what you think is security.

If you find yourself far too occupied with the script of society, I find the story of Beethoven growth-promoting. During his mid-to-late twenties, he lost his hearing. It was from this time on colleagues and critics proclaimed that he produced his best music.

It was when the world was tuned out, that the song in his heart became amplified.
