Things to consider about PWA

Maybe some of us already know about what is PWA. If I can give a brief explanation PWA or Progressive Web Apps is a web app that uses modern web capabilities to deliver an app-like experience to users. I ever tried to create it once but I never realize why we should consider this things.

We all know that when we need to install a mobile app, we have to go to the app store, search for it, consider about it size, read the review and many more. Then maybe sometime we realize that we’re not using it when we already install it and let it be a garbage. In PWA, we just like going to a website and accepting a prompt that come, there is a fun fact that most users accepted the prompt to install the PWA version of the app that their rejected before

Imagine that we only write codes for a website, than we make user run it as a mobile app. We don’t have to code for iphone or android, or maybe windows phone. PWA can be installed on all of those devices. It is also has a lighter size than native apps (Twitter confirm that they used less than 3% of disk space when they compare to the Twitter for Android), I think a disk space is a bonus for the users.

Because basically it is a web app, that means we don’t need any apps store for user to install it, like I said before maybe we just need a prompt that user have to accept to install it. The user don’t have to consider a lot about the updates, we can always serve the latest version whenever our users open the PWA. And I think now every websites can access the native tools such as bluetooth, camera, or maybe the users contacts with user’s permissions. That means we can also get the same experience that native apps give to us.

When I’m saying that things, I don’t mean that native mobile apps give us a worse experience or result than PWA. But It’s always nice to know that there is another way to done anything that have another advantage and also consider about its drawback
