This causes a whole host of communication issues which ultimately end up negatively affecting the patient and the type of treatment they receive.

Sana is a Swiss-based company which aims to unite the varied institutions involved in the medical industry on a single, digital platform. At Sana, our primary concern is the well-being of patients. By tackling the incongruity of patient data we can also help to bring patients and their medical care providers closer together. , By developing software which connects the various players in the medical industry, such as patients, hospitals, insurance agencies and pharmacies, we can create a network which allows for transparency and effective care to reach people who need it most as quickly as possible.

While medical technology has made leaps and bounds in terms of the quality of healthcare available to patients. The way that patient data is stored makes it difficult to share between professionals. Data is stored physically in different locations or it might be stored in different formats creating an unnecessarily long time for that data to reach the right person. It is also extremely difficult to have a single, up-to-date record of a patient’s data available, as all of a patient’s data is fragmented and scattered across the various doctors a patient has visited.

Our vision is to create a distributed system that utilises Blockchain technology to create a Personal Health Platform which connects healthcare institutions such as pharmacies, hospitals, private practitioners and health insurance companies to their patients. Moreover, SanaBox functions as nodes in a distributed peer-to-peer system which allows for data to be securely stored and shared between the various healthcare institutions. This acts as the foundations for numerous other incentives, such as giving patients the ability to monitor and control their data (for instance, diagnosis) using wearable or IoT devices.

Thanks to our solution users can start effectively managing their own personal data, authorizing specific doctors or institutions to access their information or book an appointment from the comfort of their own devices. Sana is completely GDPR compliant meaning that patients are free to provide their data to doctors. Having a single profile means that patient’s data, which might be spread across numerous healthcare providers, can be stored in a single, personalised profile saving time by having all crucial data and medical history consolidated in one place. Being based on Blockchain technology, each record persists in the network in a secure and immutable way.

Sana Swiss aims to bring users, hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, elderly homes and pharmacies together. Hospitals can improve their efficiency thanks to faster data delivery, while insurance companies can use Smart Contract technology to automate refunds and to avoid fraud. Elderly Homes can have constant access to user’s health and are notified immediately of any developing emergencies helping to save lives, while Pharmacies can check to see if a particular drug might conflict with any existing treatment or conditions.

Sana is designed for everyone. Every health institution or user from around Switzerland can participate in the network. We simply provide the tools to allow users to control and remotely monitor their data and enter the digital the world!
